Wood 10-Frame Beehive Entrance Reducers — 4-Pack
Product description
Package contents: four wooden entrance reducers intended for use on 10-frame hives. The set gives you spare pieces for rotation, replacement, or sharing with fellow beekeepers.
Size details: each reducer measures approximately 14.75 x 0.75 x 0.75 inches (37.465 x 1.9 x 1.9 cm), matching common 10-frame entrance widths. That sizing makes them compatible with most standard-size beehive fronts designed for this frame count.
Material and build: these entrance stops are crafted from wood. The boards are firm and solid, built to resist warping under normal conditions and to withstand seasonal handling so they last across several uses.
Design and purpose: the reducers leave a channel for worker bees to move in and out while helping deny entry to larger pests like mice and robbing bees. Their shape also maintains some airflow to help keep the colony ventilated.
How to use: install the reducer into the bottom of the brood box at the hive front; they are made to sit directly in front of standard bottom boards and work with hives that have solid bottom panels. If needed, the notch can be adjusted with basic woodworking tools to change the opening height.

Doesn't fit UK National hives
Won't fit a UK National hive — too narrow for that standard. Only useful for other hive types or as spare wood.

Customizable with a chisel
I reshaped the openings with a wood chisel to create different widths for various situations. They hold snugly once modified.

Simple and effective
Basic design that works well. Multiple entrance sizes are handy as cooler weather approaches. Good for winter preparation.

Notches a bit short
The cut-out is lower than the other reducers I own. Bees can still get in and out, but I plan to trim the wood to raise the notch.

Wider slot not very wide
The larger opening isn't wide enough to place a feeder right in front of the entrance. Fine if you don't need that setup.
