I’m now 32 weeks along and my next sonogram is scheduled in four weeks. If the baby checks out healthy and at a good weight, my OB has agreed to lift bed rest and set a date to induce. Although four weeks isn’t long, the time seems to be dragging. Meanwhile I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping, and the most fun has been choosing small decorative pieces for the baby’s crib and the nursery we’ll be sharing for now.
The first thing I searched for was a simple decorative garland. When I hear “garland” I usually picture the greenery hung on a fireplace at Christmas, but I was looking for something softer and kid-friendly on Etsy. Initially I considered a pom-pom garland (I plan to DIY one — see below) to hang under some shelves, but then I discovered the most charming fabric garlands for kids. I clicked through the shop and could have bought half a dozen. They carried sweet pom-pom garlands, personalized name garlands, and playful designs perfect for little girls. They work beautifully as photo props, everyday decor, or party accents — they always feel cheerful and celebratory. Below are some of my favorites, the one I purchased, and a few decorating ideas.
The garland I purchased came from Hand Made by Jennifer Chase. Her customer service was outstanding: she answered my many questions, quickly corrected an order mistake I made, and was genuinely kind. I was very pleased with the purchase and the experience.

Another garland I loved and would have used if I were having a girl.

A great idea for organizing the baby’s books.

The pom-poms I’m going to try making myself.
