This sweet pickle recipe, made with freshly brewed sweet tea, will delight any pickle lover. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing.

Today I’m joining the Recipe Redux crew for round two. This month’s theme is Cooking with Tea.

Some ideas just pop into my head, and this was one of them. If you’re a fan of Southern flavors, you’ll appreciate how these pickles combine sweet tea with the familiar tang of refrigerator pickles.

Imagine a pimento cheese sandwich with sweet tea built in—each bite is sweet, tangy, and subtly tea-flavored. These pickles are best chilled; if you polish off a whole jar, you might find yourself relaxing on the porch like a true Southern evening ritual.

Sweet Tea Pickles {Recipe Redux}

Ingredients
- 3 medium pickling cucumbers, sliced thin
- 2 black tea bags
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ⅓ cup sugar
- lemon slices (optional)
Instructions
- Slice cucumbers and lemon (if using) and pack into a 16 oz glass jar or a container with a lid.
- Bring ½ cup water to a boil in a small saucepan.
- Pour the boiling water over the tea bags in a heat-safe bowl and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags.
- Combine the remaining water, vinegar, and sugar in the saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat.
- Stir the brewed tea into the vinegar mixture.
- Pour the sweet tea brine over the cucumbers, cover, and let cool to room temperature.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 days before eating. The pickles will keep in the refrigerator up to 2 months.
