Thanks to PureCare for sponsoring today’s DIY Alien Nightlight craft and giveaway. All thoughts are my own.
When my family sleeps well, it shows. As parents we have more patience and energy for fun activities. My kids whine and argue less when they’re well rested, so I’ve focused on changes that help them fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. Recently I added blackout curtains, swapped pillows, and made this DIY Alien Nightlight from a mason jar. Small adjustments can make a big difference in how refreshed everyone feels in the morning.

DIY Alien Nightlight Supplies
- Mason jar
- Mason jar LED insert
- Green rock vase filler
- Glow-in-the-dark paint or lime green paint
- Small alien toys or other space-themed figurines
I used a mason jar I already had and bought lime green vase filler at the dollar store. The rocks were inexpensive and perfect for the project; I used the whole bag. For the glow-in-the-dark aliens and paint I ordered online, but you can save by using any small toys you already own and a bright neon paint.

DIY Alien Nightlight Directions
1. Turn the mason jar upside down on newspaper or cardboard. Slowly pour paint into the center and let it flow toward the sides. If the glow paint is thick, gently tilt the jar to help it spread evenly.

2. Stop once you achieve the look you want and let the jar dry at least 24 hours. It can be tempting to touch it sooner, but allow full drying time to avoid smudges or damage.

3. After it’s completely dry, fill the jar with the green rocks and place the small alien toys inside. Finish by adding an LED mason jar insert or a small string of fairy lights in the lid.

4. To make the glow-in-the-dark paint shine, store the nightlight in sunlight for a while before bedtime. The glow effect is short-lived—lasting a few minutes to create a fun transitional light—while the LED or fairy lights provide a steady, gentle glow.

I love the look with the LED insert turned on. For a brighter lamp, use less filler so more light passes through. Small fairy lights work well too and can create a twinkling effect.

Beyond a cozy nightlight, an age-appropriate pillow can improve sleep quality for kids.
PureCare Kids Collection
The PureCare Kids collection includes premium youth pillows designed for ages 3–12 with special constructions and materials that support neck and shoulder alignment. These washable pillows protect against allergens, bed bugs, and dust mites while providing comfortable support for growing children.

One option, the PureCare Rise & Shine adjustable pillow, features removable inserts so you can customize the height. It’s available with memory foam inserts or a combination of memory foam and latex. Memory foam contours gently to the head, while latex offers firmer, more structured support.

This adjustable design works well for younger kids who need support without a bulky pillow and will adapt as they grow.

The Silhouette Support Youth Pillow comes in single and dual versions and uses a patented three-piece blend of Identically Down™ and memory foam puffs. That combination provides pressure relief and a balanced feel. For a firmer sleep surface, simply flip the pillow.

My 10-year-old enjoys this pillow’s support and cover softness, while my younger child benefits from the adjustable Rise & Shine model.

All covers in the kids collection are treated with antimicrobial silver chloride to inhibit bacteria, mold, and mildew that cause stains and odors. The packaging is kid-friendly and even encourages creative use, like coloring or repurposing the box for storage.
