Disney’s The Lion King hits theaters this week. Below we share new products to look for and simple ideas for hosting a Lion King–themed party.
Disney’s The Lion King opens in theaters on July 19th. It’s a film that families enjoy together—who can resist getting up and singing along to Hakuna Matata? If you follow us on social media, you may have seen Tatanisha at the movie premiere and red carpet event, where she met celebrities and attended a lively after-party. Many of the items and activities she experienced there are highlighted below.
To celebrate the film’s release, Disney teamed up with Walmart to host special in-store Lion King events at select locations during the weekend of 7/19. If you want to join, check with your local Walmart to see if they are participating in these events.
Participating stores may offer limited-edition Lion King movie posters while supplies last, plus themed crafts, exclusive toy demos, and other family-friendly activities. At one event, Tatanisha made crafts and previewed Walmart-exclusive Lion King toys that will be on display at select stores—definitely worth checking out if your store is hosting an event.

We picked up several Walmart-exclusive Lion King items on our trip and wanted to highlight a few favorites.
The Lion King Deluxe Figure Set is a must-have for imaginative play and collectors alike. It includes key characters—Simba, Nala, Rafiki, Timon, Pumbaa, Zazu, Young Simba, Young Nala, Mufasa, Scar, a vulture, and a hyena—so children can recreate favorite scenes from the movie. Designed for ages 3 and up, the figures offer dynamic poses and detailed sculpting. Collectors will also appreciate the comprehensive lineup in one set.
We also grabbed the Lion King Kissing Plush set featuring Simba and Nala. These 10″ plush figures are made from soft materials and are perfect additions to any plush collection. A playful feature lets you press their mouths together so they appear to “kiss,” adding a cute touch for fans of the film’s romantic moments.
Another standout is the Lion King Roaring Simba Plush. This 12″ plush reproduces young Simba practicing his roar: press his paw and he roars while moving his head. The toy is soft, expressive, and makes a fun gift for birthdays or holidays.
