Wooden 8-Compartment Nesting Box for Chickens and Poultry
Product description
This nesting box is built from wood to provide a familiar, sheltered setting that encourages hens to lay. The unit includes eight separate laying compartments arranged across its length and comes with integrated perches and internal baffles to keep eggs in place and reduce breakage.
The design allows for flexible placement: use the pre-drilled hanging holes to fasten it to a coop wall or simply set it on a flat surface as a freestanding box. Construction is intended for both indoor and outdoor use, offering a stable home for your birds when secured properly.
Ventilation is provided at both the front and rear of the box to promote airflow, helping to keep nests cool and dry. Compared with metal nesting options, the wooden shell offers better thermal properties to help avoid overheating in summer and to retain warmth when it’s cold.
Overall dimensions are 50.2 x 12.8 x 26 inches and the eight separate openings are sized to accommodate many breeds of chickens. The unit is also suitable for quail, ducks, pigeons, and other small to medium poultry commonly kept in backyard flocks.
Pros
- Eight roomy nesting compartments
- Front and rear ventilation for airflow
- Wall-mount or freestanding installation
Cons
- Lightweight wood feels thin
- Assembly of included feet can be tedious
- Not intended for very large breeds
VerdictWell-designed and practical for backyard flocks: this wooden nesting box offers eight roomy laying spaces, airflow front and back, and features to protect eggs. It’s easy to mount on a wall or set on the ground and provides better insulation than metal boxes. Some assembly and attention to foot hardware may be needed, but it delivers good function at an economical value.

Good value and time-saver
I judge this on value rather than premium build. The materials are lightweight, but it spared me shopping and hours of cutting. Screws went into board edges without splitting and the finished box is sturdier than I expected. The small feet kit felt unnecessary for my setup—I placed it on scrap 2x4s and bolted it to the wall for stability.
