Portable Compact Travel Door Lock — Interior Door Security
Product description
Designed to give travelers and temporary residents additional interior protection, this compact door lock is intended to reinforce inward-opening hinged doors that feature a latch or strike plate. The unit is supplied as a single portable lock intended for use from the inside of the room and can be stored in luggage, a daypack, or a purse for easy access while on the road.
The lock is engineered to resist up to 730 pounds of force, adding a significant mechanical barrier to common hotel, rental, apartment, and dormitory doors. It’s intended to work with the typical knob and latch arrangements found in these settings and helps prevent forced entry even if someone has access to a key or keycard.
Installation requires no tools or permanent modification: insert the locking element into the latch opening, pull the door closed, and secure the device from the interior. The manufacturer specifies that the door must open inward and provide at least a 2.5 mm gap between the door edge and the frame for correct operation.
This product is for interior, inward-opening doors only; it is not compatible with outward-swinging doors, sliding doors, or most double-door setups. Its compact, lightweight profile makes it travel-friendly and convenient for those who want a non-permanent security solution while away from home.
Pros
- Compact, easy to carry
- Tool-free, fast installation
- Rated to resist up to 730 lbs
Cons
- Only for inward-opening interior doors
- Not compatible with sliding or outward doors
- Requires a minimum 2.5 mm door-to-frame gap
VerdictA convenient and sturdy option for travelers and short-term renters who want extra interior protection. It’s easy to carry and quick to install, and its 730 lb resistance rating offers reassurance against forced entry. Make sure your door type and gap meet the compatibility requirements; this device is for inward-opening doors only and cannot be used on sliding or outward doors.

Too secure — hard to remove
It kept people out, but I struggled to remove it. In an emergency I might not get out quickly. On two occasions it took around three minutes to release.

Release can jam
It functioned okay but twice I was trapped inside my room for about twenty minutes before I could get it to release. That was terrifying and I was lucky to get it open.

Faulty release, got stuck inside
First time using it the release mechanism jammed and I couldn’t get out for about fifteen minutes. I had to take it apart to exit. Felt cheaply made and prone to problems.

Essential for solo female travelers
As someone who travels alone a lot, I keep this in my bag for peace of mind. It’s very light and tiny, yet it makes a noticeable difference once engaged. Installation is quick and straightforward. When it’s in place the door feels much more secure, and I appreciate having an extra layer beyond the room lock. Affordable and small enough to carry on every trip—highly recommended for solo travel.
