Dark Side Star Wars Playing Cards — Red Collector Deck
Product description
These are officially licensed Star Wars playing cards made through a collaboration with Lucasfilm. Offered in two colorways—vibrant blue (Light Side) and striking red (Dark Side)—each deck delivers a themed portrait of the galaxy’s conflict on both the box and the cards.
The Dark Side edition leans into Imperial iconography. The tuck window frames a view of the Imperial Throne Room, cornered by Galactic Empire and First Order insignia. The red-backed design repeats a pattern featuring the Death Star, the First Order, Sith symbols and Empire marks; TIE fighters form a central motif supporting Darth Vader’s lightsaber flanked on either side.
Inside, both editions use the same set of twelve custom court cards. The Dark Side court includes figures such as Emperor Palpatine, Kylo Ren and Darth Vader—the latter depicted on the King of Spades taking command of Imperial forces. The deck also includes custom aces and jokers consistent with the theme.
Production is domestic: the cards are printed in the United States on FSC-certified paper sourced from responsibly managed forests, using vegetable-based inks and a starch-based laminate for the finish. Each deck ships as a single, foil-embossed tuck case with the complete 52-card set plus jokers, suitable for play, display, or gifting.
Handle the cards as you would any standard deck—shuffle, deal and play card games, or keep them in a collection. Expect a slightly stiff feel straight from the box that eases with regular use; the materials and print quality are designed to hold up during repeat play while highlighting the intricate artwork.
Pros
- High-quality, sustainably sourced cardstock and finish
- Detailed, cinematic Imperial artwork and foil-embossed box
- Durable, collectible and fully playable
Cons
- Court characters are the same across both color editions
- Some iconic characters have limited or unexpected representation
- Cards feel a bit stiff until they are broken in
VerdictA handsome, well-made collector’s deck that balances playable performance with cinematic design. The red Dark Side edition showcases Imperial imagery—Darth Vader, Palpatine, Kylo Ren and other villains—on a detailed back and foil-embossed tuck. Cards are printed in the United States on sustainable, FSC-certified paper with vegetable-based inks and a starch-based finish, giving a firm, shuffle-read

Good Quality, Some Misses
Feels like other premium decks from the maker: solid stock and attractive tuck case. However, notable omissions and minor character choices left me wanting—C-3PO and R2-D2 deserved stronger roles.

Love the Look — Note on Characters
These are gorgeous and classy for games, but the light and dark decks actually share the same court portraits; only the backing color differs. A few character placements struck me as odd, but overall the finish and style are excellent.
