CRKD Nitro Deck+ Clear Handheld Pro Controller for Nintendo Switch & OLED
Product description
Drift-free Hall Effect controls
The Nitro Deck+ uses Hall Effect sensor thumbsticks and trigger sensors to prevent stick drift and deliver consistent, precise inputs. That hardware longevity is a primary selling point for players tired of analog wander.
Comfort-focused, pro-style layout
Built with a “pro” symmetrical thumbstick arrangement, the unit offers a larger frame than standard controllers for a more substantial grip. The transparent housing recalls classic see-through handhelds and makes internal components visible.
Programmable sidekicks and back buttons
This model adds programmable sidekicks and rear buttons that can be mapped and tuned via the CRKD companion app. Within the app you can set dead zones, tweak actuation points, and remap functions to suit different games and playstyles.
TV output via USB-C
The Nitro Deck+ exposes video over its USB-C port so you can send HDMI to a TV using a USB-C to HDMI adapter or cable (not included). That makes it usable as a sled-style dock alternative for Switch systems that support USB-C video passthrough.
Motion, rumble and wired compatibility
Use it wirelessly with Switch or connect via USB-C for wired play on Switch or PC. Motion gyro input and rumble feedback are supported on Switch when connected, and wired mode also lets you use it as a standard controller on compatible devices.
What’s in the box and build notes
The package includes the Nitro Deck+ handheld controller and basic documentation. The clear shell is designed to show internals and is larger than Joy‑Con combinations, offering a different grip profile. Note that a separate USB-C to HDMI adapter or cable is required for TV output and some docking styles won’t accept the unit like an official Switch dock.
Pros
- Hall Effect sticks and triggers eliminate stick drift
- Fully remappable sidekicks and back buttons via app
- USB-C video output enables TV play with an adapter
Cons
- Larger frame may not suit small hands
- Requires external USB-C to HDMI adapter for TV
- Button and stick placement may need an adjustment period
VerdictThe Nitro Deck+ is a well-built, drift-free handheld controller that blends a roomy, nostalgic clear shell with modern features: Hall Effect sticks, programmable sidekicks/back buttons via the CRKD app, and HDMI output over USB-C using a separate adapter. It’s a great upgrade if you want improved sticks, extra buttons, and the option to play on TV, though its ergonomics and docking quirks may not

Fantastic handheld dock
This sled feels great in-hand, the sticks are buttery smooth and the clear shell gives it that retro Game Gear vibe. It’s a bit bigger than I expected (kids didn’t love that), but I enjoy the size and look.

Major upgrade for my OLED
Looks fantastic attached to my Switch OLED and the build feels solid. Excellent value for the quality—definitely freshens up the system’s appearance.

Perfect for Joy-Con haters
I watched this product for a while and finally grabbed one. The weight and balance are comfortable. Some may not like the button placement near the sticks, but you can disable extras once you learn the app. The transparent case hits the nostalgia note nicely and setup is straightforward.

Kids love it, takes getting used to
No detectable drift after setting minimal deadzones. Kids took to it immediately, though older players may need time to adapt because the face buttons sit below the sticks.

Decent controller, docking caveat
I bought it for the docking feature but needed to source a compatible cable; my cable attempts failed. As a controller it performs well, though.

Worth the wait
I skipped the launch models and glad I waited. The docking capability sold it for me, and the unit is comfortable—heavier but in a good way. I’m keeping an eye on future releases from the maker.

Good switch joystick replacement option
Works well and I’ve had no functional issues. Customizing the rear buttons took some figuring out, but it’s nice that it comes with a carrying pouch for transport.

Poor durability and awkward controls
A plastic clip that holds the kickstand broke quickly and now it droops. I don’t find the control layout comfortable—sticks and face buttons feel stacked so reaching them quickly is awkward.

High quality finish but cable missing
Elegant look and solid build, but disappointed the USB-C to HDMI cable/adapter isn’t included.

Almost ideal, but ergonomics hold it back
The controller feels premium, but D-Pad and face button positions require a grip change. It seems built for heavy use of back buttons, which won’t suit everyone. Reports of scratches and battery drain exist, though I didn’t see them.

Good features, not my go-to
One-piece design is handy and the rumble plus programmable buttons work well. I prefer more traditional layouts like Hori Split Pad or Binbok for comfort, so I’ll likely use this mainly for travel.
